GeoData

GeoData gives users access to downloadable vector and raster spatial data for Idaho. These data sets have been organized by INSIDE Idaho staff from the formidable amount of geospatial data developed by state, federal and local agencies, research organizations and individual researchers. Many  data sets have been standardized to facilitate ease of use. Follow this link to find data.

The majority of spatial data on the INSIDE Idaho site are in Idaho Transverse Mercator (IDTM) projection.  Additionally, some data may also be found in their native projection.  Most data have been compressed into ".tgz" files. Many vector data sets are provided in ESRI shapefile format. Image data are provided in various formats ranging from TIFF to MrSID. Many raster data are provided in Arc/Info GRID format.  For more information about the IDTM projection, data compression technique, or data formats found on this site see the Standards page.

Every data series available for download has Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) compliant metadata. INSIDE Idaho project staff are using metadata management software to compile metadata records for data sets that do not come with metadata, and to revise existing incomplete metadata records. The site is also a clearinghouse node on Geospatial One Stop. Many organizations have contributed data to INSIDE Idaho. Data users should be sure to check the metadata to find the contributing agencies who created and continue to maintain these data sets.
