Submit Data

INSIDE Idaho welcomes all hosted and virtual data submissions. Once submitted, you can provide the public efficient access to your data through a geospatial data library via the Internet.

Data available through INSIDE Idaho will be highly visible to GIS users in the research, academic, public, and private sectors. Furthermore, INSIDE Idaho is a node on Geospatial One Stop.  INSIDE Idaho staff will aid data contributors in the creation of FGDC-compliant metadata if necessary.

You may make your data available through INSIDE Idaho by either:

  1. Sending your data and metadata to INSIDE Idaho for hosting on an INSIDE Idaho server.
  2. Providing INSIDE Idaho with URL's to data that are located on your HTTP/FTP-configured machine.  This virtual option requires at minimum:
    1. A URL to an FGDC-compliant metadata record for each item in XML format. [For example: http://www.myserver.com/dataset1.xml].
    2. A URL to the item. For downloadable data the item needs to be in an archived format (.zip or .tgz or other)  [For example:  http://www.myserver.com/dataset1.zip].  If your item is a map or web application the link can be to the image (i.e. http://www.myserver.com/map.pdf)

Either option will allow users to locate resources through one unified interface.

If you are interested in having your data served, please contact Bruce Godfrey for further instructions.
