Abstract
Creating and maintaining metadata for numerous objects can be a daunting task. Metadata tools within ESRI ArcCatalog allow users to manage metadata one object at a time. There are, however a limited number of tools for performing metadata operations on multiple objects. The need exists to develop tools to manage metadata for numerous objects more effectively and efficiently. This tool allows users to select multiple objects and perform operations such as importing a template, synchronization, creating thumbnail images, editing and deleting elements, and finding and replacing text strings.
Purpose
This tool, developed by the Idaho Geospatial Data Clearinghouse at the University of Idaho Library, is designed to help metadata managers expedite metadata creation and maintenance. Users of this tool must fully understand the FGDC Content Standards for Digital Geospatial Metadata and the ESRI Metadata Extension.
